Further south, nestling in the Dourdou valley, Sylvanès is an exceptional site offering a silence that encourages meditation.This prestigeous Cistercian abbey is an internationally reknowned cultural and artistic centre.

Roquefort
Guided by a hostess, discover the mystery of the natural Roquefort cheese caves.
St Jean d'Alcas
Due to insecurity in the middle of the 15th century the abbess of the convent of Nonenque authorised the fortification of the village. Today the visit of this 15th century fortified village reveals the total regularity in the planning of the roads and the distribution of the houses.
Abbaye de Sylvanès
A brigand’s repentance gave birth to Syvanès Abbey in1132. With the help of a group of volunteers the dominican priest Gouzes managed to get it restored. Today the Abbey is well known due to the International Festival of Sacred Music that is held there. It attracts visitors for its cultural and spiritual activities.
Campalviès
This family farm located on the redlands of Camarès has adapted itself over the ages. By visiting this farm you will learn about a ewe breeder’s life on the Causses.
Latour

For over 1000 years the castle has dominated the Sorgues river and the village of Latour.
This massive, square, impressive building has watch-towers at its corners . Diverse activities and evenings are organised there. Exhibitions are also put on, particularly the reconstruction of a nun’s cell to illustrate the nuns’ life at Nonenque Abbey.

Montaigut
The Association « The friends of Montaigut » and several volunteer work camps have saved this 12th century building from ruin. It stands high on a sandstone promontory.
Vabres l'Abbaye
Located between Roquefort and Sylvanès, Vabres l'Abbeye shares the pastoral activities of the first and the glory of the second.
St Affrique
On the Sorgues river, close to Roquefort St Affrique grew for many years with weaving and glove-making activities. Its statues of the Virgin and the 5 bridges are particularities of the town.
Hermilix
The farm of Hermilix on the Larzac plateau between the Sorgues valley and Roquefort opens its doors to visitors who wish to find out about the life of the farmers on the plateau.
Versols et Lapeyre

In the heart of the Sorgues valley Versols still bears remains of its fortifications (gate-tower, mullion windows, ramparts) The Castle which is classified as a Heritage monument illustates the development of architectural styles from the 11th century. At Lapeyre you can visit the tomb of Médora Leigh (Lord Byron’s daughter).
